the Civil War broke out, he joined the 16th Texas Infantry Regiment,
Company C (April 1862 – April 1865). He
was awarded a pension by the State of

died in New Richland Springs (San Saba County).

very extensive work was published in 1985 (The Shipp Family Genealogy by Ralph D.
Shipp) that traced our Shipp line to the 1600s and their migration from
Martha was the seventh child of Martin Casner and Louisa Jane Medford. She had 10 children with her husband William,
including Ada (4/10). After the Civil War, her family decided to
