Martin
was born in Tennessee. He was the son of Isaac
Casner. He
married Louisa on December 3, 1834 in Morgan County
AL. The family lived in Alabama,
but by 1844 had moved to Texas in the area of Blanco County. Together they had seven children, including
the youngest Martha Ellen.
Captain
Martin Casner was company commander of "Casner's Company", 31st Brigade, Blanco County, Texas
State Troops during the Civil War. The
unit had a rank and file of 39 men. On
29 Oct 1863, the unit was transferred to the CSA for a six-month tour. The unit was stationed at Round Mountain
(Blanco County)
and New Braunfels
(Comal county).
After
the Civil War, the family moved to California
where his descendants prosper to this day.
Martin
died in Ballena
Township, Julian CA.
