Daddy-Son trip to explore Austin

March 26, 2011

We were bored one Saturday so we decided to just jump in the car and explore Austin.  We went downtown first.  The state Capitol was open so we went inside. Grant tried all the doors to see if any Senator forgot to lock up.  We actually got inside a few offices!

Emboldened by our success, we drove to Memorial Stadium at UT.  They used to have it open to the public but now it is locked up on the weekend.  We roamed around for a while and a housekeeping guy let us in to Belmont Hall.

Grant went around trying all the doors again.  In case you are wondering, the UT Athletic Director does lock his doors.

But the lecture hall at Belmont was open!

We wandered around the stadium, crawled under a service gate, and looked for an open door to get to the field but all the entrances were gated and chained.  One chained gate had just one too many links left loose.  We both fit trough and the stadium was all to ourselves!!

Grant runs 100 yards for a touchdown and celebrates!

Earl was proud of us!!

We walked over to the Co-Op and celebrated our victory over the man with an official UT Longhorn Pez dispenser!
