Thomas Gilbert
1733 – 1810
The
Reverend Thomas Gilbert was a Revolutionary War soldier and received large
grants of land from the government after the war. It was said that he once owned over 100,000 acres in North
Carolina. He was one of the first to go
to Louisville GA as a member of the Georgia Constitutional Convention to frame
a Constitution for the State of Georgia.
He was Baptist minister and helped to found the church of the Tugaloo
River, GA.
