When His first wife Laura was killed in a fire in 1877, Peter married his first cousin Frances Caldonia Rozell in 1881. Frances was Peter’s mother’s brother’s daughter.

Peter came to the present Wood County in 1844.

Peter Rozell is noted as the first appointed Wood County Commissioner (precinct 3) in 1850.

He was also the first elected Sheriff for Wood County in 1851.

Peter and Frances were two of the 18 original members of the First Baptist Church of Wood County founded in 16 Nov 1850.
